Cleaning business makes tidy acquisition

Staffordshire Moorlands based cleaning business, Moorland Contract Cleaning  have acquired the cleaning contracts from Spick and Span Services from Stoke, in a deal which brings an additional 15 staff and a sizeable portfolio of local clients.

Moorland Contract Cleaning , part of the Moorland Contract Group, has grown significantly in the past two years through winning new contracts, developing own-brand products and through the formation of janitorial supplies and window cleaning divisions.

Debra Donaldson, owner of Spick and Span Services, said: “I had decided it was time to sell so long as I found the right buyer. I wanted to ensure that our staff and customers would be well looked after by any new owner.

“A friend of mine attended the same networking group as the Moorland Contract Group and suggested it would be a good idea to talk to them as a potential buyer. Due to the lockdown, I initially talked online with director Suzanne Lawson, eventually visiting their offices as restrictions eased. I discovered that we shared many of the same values and felt assured that my staff and customers would be in good hands with Moorland Contract Cleaning.”

Moorland Contract Group director Suzanne Lawson (pictured) said of the acquisition: “Debra and her father have built up a great business over the past 20 years. Spick and Span is just what we were looking for to extend our footprint in North Staffordshire, they have a loyal hardworking team and a stable customer base.

“We are now able to offer all Spick and Span customers an end-to-end cleaning and hygiene solution with our range of consumable washroom supplies, janitorial services and window cleaning.

“The pandemic has certainly been no bar to our growth, in fact just the opposite as hygiene is set to remain a top priority to maintain workplace safety and business continuity.”
